QMUL Archive Site - Terms of Use

1. Introduction

  1. This policy document relates to the 2014/15 archived version of Module, Course & Programme Pages within the QMplus Online Learning Environment at Queen Mary University of London.*
  2. The archive has been provided for both staff and students and allows you to access the version of the module you were enrolled on or taught and administered in the 2014/15 academic year at Queen Mary.
  3. The archive has been made available to staff and students at Queen Mary University of London for teaching and learning purposes. It is not an official record or location for student work.

*QMplus Hub (Groups and Portfolios) are not currently being archived

2. Contents of the archive

  1. This 2014/15 archive represents a snapshot of all course pages in QMplus. The archive was created on the 20th July 2015 so any activity that you may have undertaken after that date on your 2014/15 modules will not be contained in the archive
  2. The archive and its contents have been made available to you on a read-only basis
  3. Files in the archive will be downloadable, including handouts, old assignments and lecture slides
  4. Books and pages can be viewed
  5. Quizzes can be previewed
  6. Links to external sites are not being updated; this will mean that some will break over time
  7. Links to the Library Reading list software - Talis Aspire - will point to the current reading list for that module or in some cases may not function
  8. Links to Q-Review lectures may, in due course, not work. In general the links should remain valid for at least two academic years after the lecture has taken place
  9. You will not be able to post to forums, submit assignments, receive a grade for a quiz etc.
  10. You will not receive any emails from the archive, all messaging from the archive has been switched off
  11. Some functionality that you may have had when you studied on your modules will no longer be available
  12. Some content that was available to you during the module may not be accessible in the archive. This is due to the need to preserve the integrity of content for the next cohort of students, copyright reasons or confidentiality.
  13. In addition to the above staff will be able to view and download content set to hidden from their module areas
  14. Staff will no longer be able to edit their content in any way (i.e. add files, resources or activities, delete, hide or modify any of the materials in the modules contained in the archive) – after an initial 4 month grace period.
  15. Staff will be able to view grades and assignments but not modify them in any way

3. Access to the archive

  1. Access to modules in the 2014/15 archive is based on the same access rights you had during the 2014/15 academic year at Queen Mary.
  2. We will retain archived versions of QMplus for up to 3 years. Students and staff will be able to access QMplus directly or indirectly as long as they are studying at or are members of staff at Queen Mary, University of London.
  3. If you are having trouble accessing the archive when you think you should be able to, please raise a ticket on the ITS-helpdesk explaining your issue clearly.
  4. We can provide access to the archive for those students or staff who require it. Please raise a ticket through the ITS-helpdesk stating your reason for needing access clearly.
  5. Individual files and pieces of content within the archive may break over time therefore the archive should not be considered a definitive copy of student work.
  6. In order to maintain security as the archived version of QMplus age, we may have to restrict access to the archive site so that it is only accessible via a QMUL networks.

4. Groups and Portfolios

  1. We are not currently archiving the Groups and Portfolios area of QMplus. The aim of this part of QMplus is to provide students and staff with a place to record their learning journeys, make CVs, collect digital artefacts from their learning etc. It would be inappropriate to refresh this content on an annual basis.
  2. Any links to your groups or portfolio pages in the QMplus 2013/14 archive will take you back to the live QMplus site. In time we may begin to archive content from this area. Staff and students will be given adequate notice should we choose to change the policy in this area.
